Hakeem Rahim has learned how to manage his own battle with Bipolar Disorder and now works tirelessly as a mental health advocate. He shares his story from diagnosis to recovery as well as how he is educating the youth of today on mental illness to help fight the stigma of mental illness. Hakeem's Bio: Hakeem Rahim, Ed.M, M.A. graduated with a BA in psychology from Harvard University, and dual masters from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. In 2012, Hakeem began speaking openly about his 14 year journey with bipolar disorder. Since then he has testified in front of Congress, been featured in USA Today and has shared his journey with over 5,900 college, high school and middle school students. Hakeem is a certified National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) In Our Own Voice speaker, the NAMI Queens/Nassau Let’s Talk Mental Illness TM presenter, and a member of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance’s national board. Hakeem is the owner of Live Breathe, LLC as well as a poet and recorded spoken word artist.
