She also serves as the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University (CU)/ New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) and is the Medical Director of CUCARD. Previously she had been the Medical Director of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Section of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine (PENN) since 1998. Dr. Rynn joined the Department of Psychiatry at PENN in 1991 as a resident and during her last year of residency served as Chief Resident. In 1997, she completed the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Child Guidance Center, followed by a Neuropsychopharmacology Research Fellowship, sponsored by the NIMH at PENN. Dr. Rynn's area of research has been focused on pediatric psychopharmacology with an emphasis on anxiety disorders, specifically general anxiety disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Dr. Rynn completed several studies in the area of pediatric anxiety studies showing the efficacy of sertraline and venlafaxine ER. Her current research interests include examining the efficacy of novel compounds for the treatment of pediatric obsessive compulsive disorder, the study of pharmacological interventions for anxiety and mood disorders, and adaptations of interpersonal therapy for adolescents with mood disorders. Dr. Rynn has been providing pharmacologic treatment for adults and children diagnosed with mood and anxiety disorders disorder since 1991 and she is board certified in adult and child psychiatry.
