Conquer Worry started out as a simple idea to help solve a big problem. We felt that there was a large void in the mental health community in the area of 'outreach.' When someone is struggling with alcoholism and they would like to find help, there are clear thought leaders in the field. When we ask someone to name the first place they would go if they felt they needed help with a drinking problem, Alcoholics Anonymous is usually at the tip of their tongue. But what if someone suddenly finds themselves in a place where their life is being torn apart by worry, anxiety, depression or any of the major mental health disorders? There are MANY great organization that are doing great work in the space, but there is not a central thought leader. There is not a 'brand' that is the "go-to" resource to start the process of finding help. To go back to the alcoholics example, if someone struggling with alcohol woke up one day and decided they needed help, chances are they would know that they could call Alcoholics Anonymous and start the recovery process. What if that person instead woke up and found themselves crushed under the weight of depression or any mental illness? Who would they think of first? Statistics show that most people actually do not seek help, leading to bad outcomes such as alcoholism, drug abuse, spousal abuse, self-harm and suicide. It is our vision to create a global platform that becomes 'top of mind' as a starting point for anyone who finds themselves struggling.
The Conquer Worry platform started out as a small Twitter account. We ran it anonymously, connecting with people who were looking for information, research and success stories about mental health issues. The number of people following the account grew at a humbling rate and so we launched a website and Facebook Page to help the platform and our reach expand. With the launch of The Conquer Worry Show it is clearly not possible for us to run anonymously anymore!
As a husband and wife team, our Life's Purpose is to build Conquer Worry into a platform that is recognized globally as the go-to resource for anyone struggling with a mental health issue. We are not mental health professionals, just people who have at one time or another have had to deal with the burdens of anxiety and depression. We know the challenges and struggles from first hand experience.
We are also building a team that is growing quickly. The platform and brand that is needed can't possibly grow without your help. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us via the website (click here).
Regards,
Jay & Chris Ellen
